I've enjoyed reading about your travels and your struggle with the language. During my high school days, I was fortunate to spend 5 weeks in Spain studying and learning the language. Your descriptions reminded me what it was like to be off on your own in a strange country. But it's the people that can get you through an experience like this. And there are a lot of compassionate people everywhere in the world. Don't be so hard on yourself. It will come to you when you least expect it. Love the pictures! It helps as you listen, look at a picture that will stick in your head, and you type. I really recommend it and it is only about £60. I will get to that part of the world eventually.
